A princely lunch in the heart
of Haut-de-Cagnes
We had the immense honor of welcoming His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco for lunch, alongside Mayor Louis Nègre and Mr. Constant Roland, First Deputy Mayor.
An exceptional moment marked by elegance… and above all, simplicity, just the way we like it here. We wanted to evoke this memory because it resonates with the soul of Haut-de-Cagnes: a village where heritage, art, and history naturally intersect.
"The elegance of simplicity, where the history of Monaco meets our medieval heritage."
Why Monaco resonates with Haut-de-Cagnes
Welcoming the Monegasque Sovereign to the Place du Château feels like a natural historical connection. The history of Haut-de-Cagnes is indeed closely linked to that of Monaco. From the beginning of the 14th century, the seigneury of Cagnes was acquired by Rainier I Grimaldi, Admiral of France. It was this same illustrious family who built the imposing Château Grimaldi, which still overlooks our restaurant today.
A visit dedicated to preserving Cagnes' heritage
The presence of the princely family in the streets of Haut-de-Cagnes was no coincidence. Prince Albert II made a private visit to admire the restoration of the Notre-Dame de Protection Chapel. Listed as a Historical Monument since 1939, this 15th and 17th-century gem has undergone extensive restoration work since 2021. His Serene Highness, deeply committed to preserving regional history, also contributed financially to the building's rehabilitation.
